Fall Festival 2022: "A Rolling Good Time"
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY. - Hundreds of people and their children (or ghosts and goblins) enjoyed trick-or-treating throughout downtown businesses in Saratoga Springs during the Downtown Business Association's 21st annual Fall Festival on Saturday.
One of the biggest draws: The Pumpkin Roll on Caroline Street.
"This is what the kids love. They grab their pumpkin, bring it to the starting line, and then they roll it," President of the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association Deann Devitt said. "Each child has their own strategy."
When 4-year-old Asher Kuzj was asked about his strategy he said "to roll it all the way down there."
Once the pumpkins (and the children) reached the bottom of the hill, they were rewarded with free cones from Ben and Jerry's and/or a free game of bowling from Saratoga Strike Zone.
"Some kids filled their pockets," said one of the volunteers.
While children rolled pumpkins on Caroline Street, the rock band Road Soda Pop, performed in front of the Bluebird's Spa City Motor Lodge while the audience enjoyed Kettle Corn from Pura Vida.
"The kids in their costumes loved dancing the Monster Mash with the big orange Road Soda Pop dinosaur," guitarist Steven Clyde said.
Saratoga's local radio station: Star Radio gave away prizes while playing games with Trick or Treaters in front of FingerPaint on Broadway.
Jugglers, Balloon Twisters, Face-Painters, and a Magician entertained children and their families throughout the event.
New this year, the Saratoga DBA showed a classic Halloween movie at the City Center Parking Garage from 6-8 p.m.
“It has always been a dream of mine to invite families downtown to share a movie together,” President of the Saratoga DBA Deann Devitt said.
These events would not be possible without the support and participation from these and many other Downtown Businesses: 4 Pillar Funding, Beyond 6, The Scott Varley Team, Star Radio, Albany Broadcasting, The Broadway Grind, Crafter’s Gallery, Lifestyles, Menges and Curtis, Roohan Realty, Saratoga Springs Fiber City, Cudney’s, Discover Saratoga, Caroline and Main, Celtic Treasures, Berkshire Hathaway Blake Realtors, Union Hall, Impressions, The Dark Horse, Violets, Pink Paddock, Saratoga Candy, Adirondack Trust Co, Stewart’s, deJohne Jewelry, Spoken, G.
